Note To Self Records / Self-release – Recorded by John Emerson[4]

504 Plan’s first demo was frequently given out at their early shows.[1] Nick Scimeca, the band’s drummer, does not have any copies left as of 2025. Reportedly, Adam Siska came into possession of the original recorded tracks after John Emerson’s house was cleared out in a sale. Contact with Siska and archiving of the demos is a work in progress.[2]

Trivia

  • Track 7 is an acoustic track.[1]
  • A re-recording of “I Don’t Bleed, I Just Die” also allegedly appeared on a lost Note To Self Records compilation. It also may have appeared on a second compilation, also lost to time.[1][3]

Little League Records – Recorded by Dan Wleklinski[6]

504 Plan’s debut album was released in 2001 under the then-named Little League Records (later known as LLR). The record did well in the local scene upon release. Some songs present on the D”Emo” were re-recorded for this album.

Self-released – Recorded by Sean O’Keefe[8]

After success with their first album and a rising fanbase in the local pop-punk scene, 504 Plan followed up their 2001 album with a 2003 EP. Even with features from Patrick Stump and Pete Wentz[8], the EP’s release was overshadowed by the band’s breakup shortly thereafter.

FOBAT extends a big thank you to Nick Scimeca for providing the team with physical copies of Minutia to be scanned and archived on this page.

Trivia

  • Three songs off of Minutia were originally recorded for a proposed Fall Out Boy and 504 Plan split record. The first three recorded tracks off of Take This To Your Grave were also initially planned for this split. The split fell through after Nick Scimeca heard Fall Out Boy’s tracks and believed theirs would not compare to Fall Out Boy’s.[2]
  • Patrick Stump and Pete Wentz feature on the opening and closing tracks, respectively.
  • Jon Walker is credited as the band’s bass player, but Adam Anderson is noted to have played bass on all of the tracks.[8]

Unreleased – Recorded by Sean O’Keefe[2]

These three demos were recorded at the same time as Minutia. The band recorded these in Wisconsin while staying over at a friend’s dorm.[2]

Download
01. Feed Em’
02. Lake Geneva
03. Legend Of Zelda Theme Song

Trivia

  • “Lake Geneva” was recorded as a thank-you to the girl whose dorm they stayed in while recording Minutia. It mentions her name in the lyrics, which seems to be either Leslie or Lizzie.[2]
  • Their cover of The Legend Of Zelda’s theme music was entirely driven by Mikey Russell. He was a fan of the video game series, and the band would sometimes open their live shows with this short cover.[2]
  • Nick Scimeca is the vocalist/screamer in “Feed Em'”.[2]

Unreleased – Recorded by Jon Walker

These songs were written between June and October of 2003, and recorded that November.[9] Seemingly material for an album that never came, these full instrumentals lack vocals due to Mikey Russell and Nick Scimeca’s disagreements about ending the band.[2]

Download
01. Lay Awake
02. Sinker
03. Apathetic Argument
04. 1987
05. My Life In Music
06. The Sniper Song
07. Track 7

Trivia

  • Despite having finished lyrics for all seven songs, they were never recorded, and they have seemingly been lost to time. Nick Scimeca says that the band is unaware of where written lyrics may be, if they even still have them at all.[2]
  • Jon Walker recorded these tracks in the various basements of houses the members lived in.[9]
  • “My Life In Music” shares a name with Mikey Russell’s then-active Livejournal account.[10]

Why don’t you start off by telling everyone out there reading this who you are, a little bit about yourself, and what you do in 504 Plan.
Hold on…Adam is blind. I have to read it to him six times.

Haha, that’s fine. Take your time. I’ve got nowhere to go.
I am Nick. I weigh 36 pounds 7 ounces. I’m so hot. Oh and I play drums.

Haha, nice. Okay and who’s this Adam kid?
Adam is the dad of the band because he solves the big problems…he also drives the most. He plays the bass geeter. Adam is grumpy. Heโ€™s mad I wrote that so pretend I never did.

I can’t do that. Haha.
ok good.

It’s okay though. Why don’t you two brainstorm now and describe the rest of the band for me.
Aight…Tommy Conrad: He plays guitar, does the website, talks about dead babies and bloody stuff with me…me and Tommy decided to grow out our hair back in November…and havenโ€™t cut it since…me and Tom are basically the same guy except for the part where Iโ€™m cooler than he is and uh yeah…he worries the most in the band…if he gets lost, he cries and hits people. Mikey Russell: He sings and plays guitar. His hair looks like a shovel (says my lil brother)…he likes nature and safari’s and doing weird stuff…heโ€™s a vegan but he sneaks cheese sometimes (shhh). He stopped going to school because he is cooler than that. Adamโ€™s leg hurts right now. Itโ€™s red and spreading. He said “It like itches but its really sore. Their gonna think I have crabs,” then I said “On the back of your leg?” He felt like a stroke hole and said “oh.”

Haha…is that everyone in the band then?
Yes

Stay away from me Adam.
He tried to come up with a come back and just stuttered…

HAHA! Take that! Okay, I guess I’ll stop sitting here doing nothing and ask you another question. How did the band all get started and how has it changed since you first began.

*LOOOOOOOOOONG pause*

Did you guys die or something?
Nick: ITโ€™S A LONG STORY!

Melissa: OH, sorry! MY BAD!
Nick: I love you

Melissa: Love me enough to give me the new 504 Plan CD?
*Nick ignores question*
Me, Mike and this guy John started jamming back in freshman year…bass players didnโ€™t exist 4 years ago…so we tried a couple people out and everyone didnโ€™t know what music was…so our friend Adam played guitar and we asked him to fill in until we found a bass player and then. we never found one and Adam was starting to rock at bass and he knew all the songs. so Adam joined the club. then john left to go comb his beard and drink alcohol…and we found this guy know has “black Dave”…he was Jamaican…he couldnโ€™t ever get to practices…so we booted him…then this boy kept bugging me to start a band with him…I did…and quit 2 weeks later…and I made the boy join our band…and heโ€™s never been happier…that boy is my best friend Tommy…so we practiced and wrote songs with tom and played our first show in June or July 2000 with Demar’s old band ‘the fifes’…..

Holy shit, you weren’t kidding. That is long.
(If you donโ€™t know who Demar is…shoot yourself at this point in the interview)

Who doesn’t know who Demar is…you guys are EVERYWHERE remember?
Demar, Tom and me are all best friends…we kiss and take showers and stuff…its soooo hot.

Killer dude! All right. So let’s hear how you would describe 504 Plan’s sound now.
oh sadsdgfgh…I better give you that free CD

I think so. If you really loved me, you’d give me a CD. ๐Ÿ˜‰
Maybe…now ask me effing questions.

I DID! Refer to above.
we sound like Elvis. Iโ€™ll TRY to describe ok?

okay
We are fast catchy punk with lots of energy, enthusiasm and emotion…

All right. Good description. Now you guys are all still in high school right?
Tom and me are super seniors. Adam graduated last year. Mikey is starting alternative school because he hates normal school. He will graduate this year.

So is it hard to juggle the band and schoolwork and shit?
Adam is a college boy so he is busy. Me and Tom have blow off senior years…I have 4 classes…art…art…survey and cinema….its tough, but we practice ALOTTTTTTTTT and play as much as we can.

Where does he go to school? And what are everyone else’s plans as far as college and whatnot?
Adam goes to Harper College. I donโ€™t know what Mike is doing with college…heโ€™s good with wood and building stuff…whenever someone asks me or Tom about college we say “ummm…I donโ€™t worry about things like that”…so the band is more important in our eyes.

I gotcha. Okay so you guys just recently released a new CD. Why don’t you tell all the viewers a little about that.
It was the longest process ever…and we are very happy with everything right now…it has 9 rocking songs…its on Little League Records (AMAZING) and its called Tree House Talk…you can order it online from www.interpunk.com or .

Rad. So why Little League Records?
Johnny gave us his heart.

Haha, I’ll say it before, and I’ll say it again. I love Little League Records. I donโ€™t know about Johnny though…he’s a little scary. Okay, so you dudes were on Warped Tour last summer. Are there any plans for a repeat showing?
When Johnny got the idea to start Little League…I think I was in the car…a week later…I had plans to go out to L.A. to visit Richard and Drive Thru Records…I needed a friend to go with…Richard offered to help us and teach us how to run the label…so we went…and became amazed…came back…and after the longest process and problems…Jan 1st…the poop hit the fan.

Wow, sorry. I jumped the gun on that one. That’s a great story. I don’t think I’ve ever heard how it all got started.
Yes it was definitely the best day of the summer…we had a sleep over at my house the night before…it was cute…I hope we can get on the Chicago date again this year…I would probably do anything to get on it…

Anything huh? Like what?
I donโ€™t know…Iโ€™m kind of wacky…

What’s the wackiest thing you’ve ever done?
We are all stuck on this question…we are thinking…ill get back…jump the gun on purpose now.

All right then. Its Random Melissa Question time!
sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeetttttttt

Okay so let’s say you’re at a show and you see a fly chick and you wanna go lay your mack down. What’s the pick up line you use or how do you make your move?
I use the power of promotion. I usually have stickers, samplers or fliers, so I give them stuff…and Iโ€™m kind of a silly boy so I make them giggle…and then we start talking…its easy…Iโ€™m not shy at shows. If you see me at school…youโ€™ll be like…Nick why the eff are you in the corner wearing all black…

: Haha, I understand that totally. That’s how I am too.
Eff yeah! Hey I know the wacky thing now…

Great! Shoot.
I was at the streets of woodfield…and this guy pretended to be from a different country asking where the strip bar was…and Iโ€™m good at reading people so I knew he was joking..but it WASNT obvious at all…so I pretended to be from France and told him there was hookers around the corner…and he started talking normal…heโ€™s like “are you mocking me?” I was “no mister I am Ibador from France” then my friends were like chill dude heโ€™s a foreign exchange student…and it was a huge scene…and then the guy felt bad cuz he thought I was from France…wee.

Haha. Nice!
if you want to hear the accent…just ask me in person.

I’ll make sure to do that the next time I see you. I took French for 4 years in high school, but I sucked.
I took Spanish up until Spanish 4.5 and I quit…

The only Spanish I know is Uno mas cervecia por favorโ€ฆor something like that…haha.
one more beer?โ€ฆplease

Yup. Itโ€™s the only Spanish you need.
hahaha. I donโ€™t drink.

and donde esta los banos?
Where are the bathrooms?

Yes. Very good.
I rock!

Haha! One more beer and where are the bathrooms.
truezzz

That’s good you don’t drink. Drinking is bad. Okay, last question dude.
Ask away.

What’s next for 504 Plan?
we are going to push push push and its going to take us as far as we can go…we have new songs that we are AMAZED and in love with…we are going to demo (record) them in Feb…we are looking for a van and trailer to tour in this summer…we NEED to tour…we want to go west.

And you guys have some shows coming up in the Chicago-land area in the next couple months?
